Only 1 in 10 businesses seek legal advice when they have a legal need, so we tried to find out why.
We didn`t have to be rocket scientists to realise that the cost of using expensive lawyers was one of the key reasons. On average, a lawyer will charge around £250 per hour and even a relatively straightforward document could take 3-4 hours to produce.
If you run a small business then you will know that finding the money to be able to get the advice you need is not always that easy. Your money is better off invested in things like stock that you can turn into income. As a consequence people tend to look elsewhere for advice, turning to friends or search engines for the answers. But they are not lawyers and you could end up being in breach of the law. Eek!
If you can afford a traditional lawyer then getting hold of one that you feel able to trust can be difficult. They work office hours which is probably when you need to be at work too and they are often not very keen on meeting when it suits you.
We thought that there had to be a better way to give small business owners access to legal advice at a price that was affordable. We wanted small business to be protected by the law rather than at risk from it.
With much head scratching, idea bouncing and nearly a year of development we came up with LawEasier; a web-based subscription model that couples clever technology with expert legal knowhow.
Launched in 2017, LawEasier is the amalgamation of 150 years` legal experience from an award-winning law firm and 10 years of technology development by the world`s largest providers of assisted legal services. A match made in heaven.
Priced at the cost of a mobile phone contract, access to legal services has never been more affordable for small businesses. Our online legal guides are kept instantly up to date when the law changes and the hundreds of legal documents you can create are bespoke to your needs and will stand up in court as if an expensive lawyer had drafted them.
We think we`ve made the law more affordable and more accessible for small businesses and we are pretty pleased with ourselves as a result.
